MAGA is Hatred
Hatred is the power that drives the movement
At an individual level, MAGA supporters may not identify any hatred. But at a cultural level, MAGA is powered by hatred, from a number of people who do hate, and a majority of people who allow it. This combination can and has allowed for the worst atrocities in human history.
This power sustains the MAGA movement. At any point in time, it will be towards a specific target, but the target is arbitrary. The hatred will always move to another "other" group to sustain themselves.
The simplicity of hatred
Many of the problems facing Americans today can be overwhelming: an economic recession, a global pandemic, a natural disaster, and more. The causes of these events can be convoluted, can involve everyone, or maybe no one. These events can instantly leave people feeling powerless, completely unable to fix their situation. The fixes to these problems usually do not utilize the people affected and can take significant amounts of time.
Hatred provides a simple solution. All of the the problems stem from a person, or a group of people. Emotionally, this is a very satisfying answer that everyone can understand at a base level and have solutions on how to "fix" them. Once you get rid of these people, then the problems go away.
Hatred provides power to do terrible things
Its through this hatred that supporters of MAGA become activists. You can see this at Trump rallies that hatred of other people is what drives the message and what drives activism.
It is through this activism that MAGA political power is ultimately derived from. Millions of Americans now have accepted this hatred and will vote out, act out, threaten, and even take violent action against whoever stands in the way of fixing that hatred.
Because hatred is the source of power, it can never stop
If people were to stop allowing this hatred, the MAGA movement evaporates and all of the power that comes with it. They become just another group of people with interests and policy positions. The people in power recognize this, and so this hatred has to keep going. So they change the narrative, and suddenly the target of the hatred moves from one group to the next, and on and on and on it goes.

Mass deportation plans making MAGA sound like Nazis
Excerpts from Rolling Stones article:
- “I have received some guidance to avoid terms, like ‘camps,’ that can be twisted and used against the president, yes,” says one close Trump ally. “Apparently some people think it makes us look like Nazis.”
It wasn’t the news media that came up with the term “camps” to describe the plans for Trump’s new, expanded system of detention facilities for holding immigrants awaiting mass deportations — a network of detention centers that he could potentially call on the U.S. military to help build and operate. It was Team Trump that started describing the future that way.
- And yet, according to two sources with direct knowledge of the matter, the Times article infuriated some of Team Trump’s senior staff, who privately said they believed the reporting made their candidate — the once and future leader of the free world — appear extreme and borderline fascistic, especially on “the concentration camps framing,” a Trump adviser notes.
Months later, Trump, himself, didn’t shut down the idea his administration would put migrants in camps. “I would not rule out anything,” Trump said, when Time magazine asked whether he would build new detention camps. Pressed about Miller’s plan for camps, Trump said: “It’s possible that we’ll do it to an extent but we shouldn’t have to do very much of it, because we’re going to be moving them out as soon as we get to it.”

Your Body, My Choice
MAGA influencer and white supremacist Nick Fuentes coins the term "Your Body, My Choice" after the 2024 election. He is referencing that women in America are going to lose the ability to make decisions about their healthcare.
After the election, sexist and abusive attacks on women have surged across social media since Donald Trump’s reelection, according to an analysis from the Institute for Strategic Dialogue. Some reports include:
- On TikTok, female users are reporting that accounts are commenting “your body, my choice” en masse on their posts. One TikTok creator stated: “I had to delete a video because I was being threatened and several men commenting [sic] saying they couldn’t wait until I get raped or ‘your body my choice.’” Another stated: “I woke up this morning to men commenting ‘your body, my choice.’ In a TikTok forum on Reddit, a user posted: “Last night I reported one of the many comments I’ve seen saying ‘Your body, my choice.’ The comment has been left up and the report has been marked as not a violation. How? HOW THE FUCK is that not a violation?”
- The phrase “your body, my choice” appears to have made its way offline, specifically into schools. Young girls and parents have used social media to share instances of offline harassment. They include the phrase being directed at them within schools or chanted by young boys in classes.
- On Facebook, the phrase “your body, my choice” is currently trending, with 52,000 posts in the last 24 hours. One parent stated: “Today my daughter was told three separate times on campus ‘your body, MY choice.’ The third group of boys told her to ‘sleep with one eye open tonight.’”

Trump and the "enemy within"
Trump has referenced that the biggest problem are the "enemy from within". He has suggested this vague "enemy within" could be "handled" by the military.
On Oct. 9, he told supporters in Scranton, Pennsylvania, that Vice President Kamala Harris is surrounded by "very smart, very vicious people" who are "the enemy from within."
On Oct. 13, he told Fox News’ Maria Bartiromo that U.S. Rep. Adam Schiff, D-Calif., is "the enemy from within" and, asked about the possibility of Election Day chaos, warned of "very bad people," "radical left lunatics" who should be handled if "necessary" by the National Guard or the military.
On Oct. 27, he told thousands of people gathered at Madison Square Garden in New York that the "enemy from within" is harming the country with "open-border policies (and) record-setting inflation.".
Experts say the "enemy from within" phrase echoes rhetoric by Sen. Joseph McCarthy, R-Wis., who notoriously led 1950s congressional investigations that aimed to root out the communism he claimed had infiltrated the federal government. And Trump’s October remarks don’t signal the first time he has talked about threats from within the U.S.

Hasan then asked Phillip, “Did your guest just say I should be killed on live TV?” Girdusky responded by falsely equating Hasan’s Palestinian support with the terrorist group Hamas.
“That is completely out of pocket. You know that,” Phillip told Girdusky. Phillip apologized to viewers for his statements. Girdusky said he apologized because he thought Hasan said he supported Hamas, a claim Phillip and Hasan dismissed.
A few minutes later, when the show returned from a commercial break, Phillip addressed viewers and Hasan for the “completely unacceptable” comments made by Girdusky and he was removed from the show.

Stephen Miller Madison Square Garden References Nazi Motto
During a Trump rally at Madison Square Garden, Stephen Miller uses the quote "America is for Americans and Americans only." This is eeriely similar to a common motto used by Nazi Germany, "Germany For Germans". At the same time, the rally at Madison Square Garden draws comparisons to a rally held in Feb. 20, 1939 for the "Pro American Rally". This rally is where the American flag hung next to swastikas and where 20,000 Americans wore nazi armbands to show their support for fascism and Adolf Hitler.

The theme of migrants and mass deportation ran throughout Trump's speech. He said that immigrants to the United States are "the worst criminals in the world" and "the most violent people on Earth." Later in his speech, he said that Haitian-American immigrants in Springfield would have to be deported to Haiti in spite of their legal status.
“We have to live with these animals, but we’re not gonna live with them for long, you watch,” Trump said at the rally, adding that he was confident he could win the historically blue state. “I am going to make Colorado safe again.”

He is the former president’s troll-in-chief, a frequent talking head in MAGA-aligned media known for his provocative, no-holds-barred defense of the president and crusade against Trump’s perceived enemies, especially in his legal battles. He rages against the “weaponization” of the Justice Department. He has promised to “rain hell” on Washington from a Trump administration perch come January 2025 and to eviscerate institutions that he says treat Trump unfairly. He calls Democrats “Marxists” and “evil” and has joked — in ways that many others don’t always take jokingly — that he would send journalists and former GOP personalities including George Conway and Tim Miller to “the gulag” and would put migrant kids in “cages.” “My goal,” he once told me, “is for the Supreme Court to dismantle most of the federal government.” --Politico
